As a kid, I loved to doodle, write, draw - just me and the page. I loved paper, scissors, pens, glue. You had to just leave me alone with it, and I’d be happy for hours. Somehow, I totally lost that over the years. It was a slow process, just as I nearly lost my sense of hope, just as I most definitely lost my sense of self in favour of societies’ pressures and needs.
Hell, I even wrote most of my works on the computer and never, for the life of me, figured out why it was not as much FUN as it used to be.
Some weeks ago, I stumbled upon the journaling-crowd on TikTok and immediately knew, this could be, with some twisting and tweaking, something I could love (this account especially inspired me: TIKTOK: CHEY/@livebrave2; but feel free to find your own).
This is my creativity journal. I have it for a month now, and it has worked wonders. It is a place where I can be truly, unapologetically myself, where I can play, doodle, develop, discard, refine ideas, plays, storys, poems, songs, EVERYTHING under the sun. In acknowleding what I want, need, think up, as worthy enough to be put down on paper, I acknowledge myself, my ideas, everything I am and stand for, as worthy enough. I feel every artist, every HUMAN should have something like this. It is my lifeline. Go, try it, get one yourself and start playing! Love ya!
P.S.: In case you wondered, mine, currently, is a DINA5-ish Moleskine softcover lined (next one will be a plain one), you can find it in every good bookstore and everywhere on the internet.
