If it wasn’t for this book, I might have never dared to follow my creative dreams. It came to me at the end of my law studies, when I was abroad in the US for my final stage of my Referendariat (legal traineeship). I was filled with a sense of renewal - I made it, I’ve proven that I can follow through with something my family, society wants from me, now I’m free, now it’s my turn, now it’s my time to turn to my dreams. A sense of possibility filled me as I was so close to Hollywood, my tribe, my (still deeply buried) dreams.
As I was browsing through a bookstore in Santa Monica one day, it lay there on the shelf, waiting for me to pick it up. Of course, I bought it, immediately sat down at a café and started to read. I cried all through reading the first chapter, and I cried many more times, and still often do. It was just what I needed to hear.
I’ve worked with this book countless times. It is like a good friend, I consult it when in need, on the good days and the bad - and the morning pages are my constant companion, they have been for over a decade now. I recommend it to every artist, or better to everyone who feels this urge to be creative, no matter what profession you have, no matter how old you are (I mean it. Just give it a try).
Thank you, Julia Cameron, from the bottom of my heart, for showing me the way when I encountered only barriers.
Keep creating, my friends! Love ya.
P.S.: For my German friends: If you want to read it in German, it’s banished into the Esoterik-section, labeled as a book for weirdos, which does this book a HUGE disservice. You can find it there - or on the internet.
